English has become the most needed language to exist, compete, and soar in various realms of life.it is the language used in our higher education system and most of the books on all subjects under the Sun are available in English. Knowing a language obviously means to learn the practical usage of the language. We know,from an   application letter to resignation letter, everything is to be submitted in English in this world of technology. Every man has to learn English as a second language for their bread and butter. But for a common man, it is too difficult to learn a new language as it is not their core area of concern.

In every nation thousands of people including students as well as professionals are learning English. When billions of people want to learn English as a second language they require some additional and nonconventional help from educationalists. Teaching a second language is a very challenging task for teachers because they have to adopt a new teaching method. A second language teacher requires systematic training to teach verity of learners.

The condition of English language in India is very strange. We find variety of pronunciation according to the state dialect. Writing skill can be easily improved like letter writing, resume writing, making proposals which is professionally helpful.  Since all the  language skills  can be practiced  as part of their  first semester  text book Equip which enables  the students  to become   expertise  in various discourses by providing situational practice in everyday life.

Language and literature are inseparable and intertwined with our life almost. Literature is our life and which can be understood only through language.  We know the history of India andof its states is multifacetedand complex. So our education system focuses on our regional history and its culture. Moreover, studying language and literature can mirror our life such a way. In the UG syllabus, the students can follow different text books like Readings on Kerala, Readings on Life and Nature, Readings on Gender, Readings on Democracy and Secularism, Readings on Philosophy and Knowledge. All these texts aim to stretch students’ independent thought and analytical skill. Studying literature is not a spoon feeding of information but rather it helps students to develop their understanding by reading and analysing the life situations.

As we know the greatest advantage of learning English is vast increase in the career prospects and employment opportunities. English is the common spoken language, so if we have command of the language travelling and interacting with people to different cultures can become easier.
